Writefull for Institutions

Writefull uses the latest Artificial Intelligence techniques to give language feedback on scientific texts. It has been developed especially for students and researchers, and its feedback is tailored to academic writing. Using Writefull enables students and research staff to have more confidence in their writing and to make fewer errors, increasing their productivity and fostering academic success.

Technical Requirements

Writefull for Word for Windows can be used with:

  • Windows 7 SP1 or newer
  • Office 2013 or newer

Writefull for Word Online and macOS can be used with:

  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Word Online - Office 2016 or newer

Writefull for Overleaf is currently supported by Google Chrome, Chromium, and Brave

Writefull Revise and Writefull Cite:

  • Revise and Cite run in evergreen browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).
  • If using Edge, it must be a Chromium-based build (post January 15, 2020).

Writefull Plugins

Important Note: As Writefull is a relatively new app provider, Windows might alert you that it is an unrecognized application by showing the Microsoft Defender SmartScreen. If this happens, click More info, and then Run anyway to continue the installation. See images below

 

In Word click on the Writefull add in and Sign In

To create an account, click the ‘Sign in’ button, enter your CSIR email address, then click ‘Continue’>> The password can be anything of your choosing (NOT your LAN password). >> Click "Save", a verification email will be sent to your email. You must verify your account before logging in.

 

 

This extension currently supports Google Chrome and Chromium only and Brave.

Once you have added Writefull to your browser, you will see the Writefull icon (yellow W) in the Overleaf toolbar. Click this icon to open the Writefull sign up / sign in screen.

On this screen, you can create an account. Enter your CSIR email address and a password of your choosing, and click the Create account button. An activation email will be sent to the email address you provide. You must activate your account before logging in. If you already have an account, you can click Log in at the bottom of this screen to jump to the login screen. If you have an account but forgot your password, click I forgot my password in the login screen. Once you are logged in, the Account screen will appear. At the top of this screen, you see the number of  language suggestions. Right below, you see two switch buttons to enable and disable Writefull's language check and Overleaf's spell check.
